You can buy any product these days and it may well be a good quality well known brand but then you find, as I have that it has plastic parts on it and it is those parts that break.
I can use my fridge as an example for you.
I paid cash for the fridge in a well know shop.
It is a top of the range fridge which was installed and looking good but what happened next was really annoying.
After a few months the plastic handle snapped.
I was really pleased that I am paying every month for the extra care cover plan because I had it replaced.
Then it snapped again and over the last few years every four to six months they have to be called out and replace it again as it keeps snapping.
This really is an annoyance.
This is in addition to the fact that after just a few weeks of owning the fridge I had a big problem.
I did my normal shop on a Saturday morning and when I went to put the milk in my wonderful new fridge something happened that shocked me.
You won't believe what happened next and nor did I, the whole door dropped off in my hand.
I was stunned but couldn't call them out till the Monday and even then had to wait a week for a new door to come into stock.
In the meantime we had to get some strong tape to hold the door on which has marked the door and the side of the fridge.
They did come out and replace the door but now it doesn't open wide enough to open the salad drawer.
What is wrong with this picture? This is just one example of the money saving efforts large companies go to when cutting production costs and saving money which I find ridiculous to be honest.
When you buy a product nowadays, in most cases, something is plastic whether it is a knob on a new cooker or the door handles in a car.
They are plastic and that is what breaks.
Not the fridge, cooker or car just the plastic bits which is to me personally just a way of extracting more money out of consumers.
There is only one product I own and I have had a few years but will never have a problem with.
It is my ceiling fan.
Why you are asking yourself? Well let me tell you right now it is the best product I have bought that is on the market.
They are so confident in the quality and reliability of their fans that they are warrantied for a lifetime.
Where and what else do you get a minimum fifty year warranty on? To add to this when they work in reverse they can save up to 24% on the energy costs.
I have five of them and all operate by remote controls which are plastic but after six years I still have no problems with.
So in conclusion I believe the olden days were the best because when you bought something it worked for many years and we found we had no problems with.
Nowadays I seem to have problems with nearly everything I buy with the exception of my fans.
